Portrait 5
“Portrait 5”, an oil painting by Anna Chernysheva. ArtMix studio, Almaty. The palette is warm ochre and sand, open in tone. There are almost no cool shades. The upper part of the frame is denser than the lower. The surface is finely broken up, with a lot of detail. The lightest area is at the bottom right. The palette holds around 9 distinguishable shades. The contrast is moderate: the shadows read without fighting the light. The tone is mid-range, without extremes of dark or light. The left and right halves are equal in lightness. The canvas is vertical. A work from the studio portfolio. A similar piece can be painted to order in your own subject and size.
