Big Almaty Lake
“Big Almaty Lake”, an oil painting by Anna Chernysheva. ArtMix studio, Almaty. The palette is blue-green, restrained in tone. The cool outweighs the warm. The dark mass gathers at the bottom, leaving the top light. The surface is finely broken up, with a lot of detail. The lightest area is the upper right corner. The palette holds around 9 distinguishable shades. The contrast is moderate: the shadows read without fighting the light. The tone is mid-range, without extremes of dark or light. The canvas is horizontal. This one has already found its owner. A similar piece can be commissioned: subject and size are agreed in advance.
