From a first brush to 585 students
I'm Anna Chernysheva: I paint in oils and teach others to do the same at the ArtMix studio in Almaty, 69A Satpaev St. Below is how it happened - no talk of talent, just the work and the numbers.
The paintings have gone into private collections, my students win competitions, and I am still at the easel every day.
Age 5 - The brush I never put down An ordinary story: a child was given paints. What was unusual came later - I never stopped. Drawing did not stay a hobby class; it became what I have done every day since.
Age 15 - The first person who paid for my painting Someone saw a piece and asked for one like it. At fifteen that looks like chance. It was not: the commissions never stopped after that.
Academy - A restorer, not just a painter Zhurgenov Academy of Arts, specialising in the restoration of easel painting. A restorer takes a picture apart layer by layer: what it was painted with, on what, why it cracked forty years later. After that training you cannot work by guesswork - you know your painting will outlive someone.
Eight years ago - I opened a studio - and began teaching At first it was simply a place to paint. Then people started asking to be taught. It turned out I enjoy explaining as much as painting - and I hear “I have no talent” from roughly every second person at their first lesson.
In eight years I have not met a single person who could not do it. Ability is not something you are born with: it is built by practice. At the first lesson I look at what already comes easily to you and build the path from there.

If you need a painting
How long does a commissioned painting take? Usually one and a half to three weeks, depending on size and complexity. If it is needed by a date, write ahead of time.
Can you paint from my photo? Yes, that is the most common request. The more angles and the sharper the photos, the better the character comes through - especially in a portrait of a person or a pet.
Do you ship to other cities? Yes. Within Almaty I hand paintings over myself; elsewhere I ship them, carefully packed for transport. Delivery abroad is discussed separately.
If you want to learn
I have never drawn. Can I do it? You can. Most of my students started from zero. At the first lesson I see what already comes easily to you and build the programme from there: your skill grows across different materials until you find your own.
What do I need to buy for the first lesson? Nothing - materials for the first lessons are provided. If you carry on, I will tell you what is worth buying.
Do you teach children? Yes - the studio teaches both adults and children from the age of five. Tell me the child’s age and I will suggest a format and a time.
